Suspended in the atrium of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics were models based on diagrams depicting the probability clouds or fields of motion made by electrons circling around atoms.  Within the context of the Perimeter Institute these orbitals are like phantom images reflecting the thoughts that inhabit and punctuate the Institute.

 

The orbitals are constructed of laser cut, interlocking discs of acrylic that articulate the orbital forms and are animated by the ambient air currents and changing light conditions within the glass atrium.
